Flat Roof Leak Around a Solar Panel Mount: What to Know

Solar mounting hardware penetrates the roof, and every penetration is a potential leak point if not flashed correctly.

Solar panel racking systems typically attach through the roof membrane at multiple points, each needing proper flashing to stay watertight. A leak that started after solar installation, or that’s located near mounting hardware, often traces back to a penetration that wasn’t sealed correctly — sometimes by the solar installer, not the original roofer.

We can assess and repair leaks around solar mounts without needing to remove the panels in most cases, though very close coordination with your solar provider may be needed for anything requiring panel removal.
