A small, slow leak often gets ignored because the visible damage seems minor — a faint stain, nothing dripping. Underneath, though, water is still getting into the roofing layers and potentially the decking, and that damage compounds over each subsequent rain, even without the visible symptom getting dramatically worse right away.
By the time a small leak becomes an obvious problem — active dripping, sagging, or a much larger stain — the underlying damage is often significantly more extensive (and expensive) than it would have been if addressed early. A small leak now is almost always cheaper than the same leak in six months.
